Food Trip Sunday: Wild Safari Grill

After two Fridays of planning an eat-all-you-can buffet dinner with my “Fridates” being constantly cancelled, it finally pushed through yesterday (Sunday) with my psych family.  It was a toss up on whether to go to Crepelato or Wild Safari Grill.  I think I piqued Precious’ (PS for short) interest in trying out Wild Safari Grill since it sounded different and a lot of our friends haven’t tried it.  (Even I haven’t gone there).

Wild Safari Grill

Upon entering, you’ll notice the photos of wild animals adorning the right side and the buffet table organized on the left.  Their staff wearing safari explorer/hunter clothes makes you really imagine that you’re in the wild.  A couple of our old classmates were running late so Sarah, a pregnant Lily/Sichi (and her husband Mark), and I decided to get ahead on their servings.

Grilled Food

The buffet table

I skipped breakfast and lunch earlier so “stuffing” myself was the main plan.  I pigged out on the Crispy Pata (Pork Leg), then had a piece of grilled chicken barbeque, veggies on the side, pork adobo, then creamy mushroom soup.  The Crispy Pata was absolutely delicious!  No wonder it was one of the few servings that were the first ones to get empty.  Good thing that they refill it immediately.  The beverage section was very generous too.  You get to have your choice of drinks.  Bad decision to try a lot in retrospection though.  I was so full when I mellowed down in eating.

Fruits Galore (what's left of it...)

All in!

After a couple of minutes, PS arrived then Elisa and her bf, and the last ones to arrive where Tess and Steph.  To “empathize” with Lily and her pregnancy, all of us got a craving for green mangoes with bagoong.  YUM!  I think we were the ones who finished the whole plate. LOL.  Ironic that Sichi was the only one not craving for mangoes.  (Ice cream was more her style).

Halo-halo Stand (also eat-all-you-can)

My halo-halo

The Hal0-halo was my last piece.  I should’ve opted to skip this one and jump in to the unlimited ice cream.  But PS convinced us to have our fill of halo-halo then save the ice cream for last.  Now I’m regretting not tasting their local ice cream flavors.  Only got to taste the ube flavor when I mixed it with my halo-halo.

All the single ladies...

In a nutshell, the food was great!  The ambiance was so-so but I didn’t really notice though.  Busy with catching up and getting the latest news from everybody around.  Price?  Quite affordable given that the drinks and ice cream was also unlimited.

Wild Safari Grill is located at F. Torres St. near Davao Convention and Trade Center (DavCon) in between Zakoya and Joke Hall.  They are open daily from 11:00AM to 02:00PM for their lunch buffet, then at 06:00PM to 9:30PM for their dinner buffet.  For more information, here’s their number:  (082) 222-3748.

The best part for this bonding session, aside from the food, was being able to meet up with former classmates and still become wacky with each other even as yuppies. 🙂

For a nightcap, a bunch of us headed over across the street and decided to hang for an hour at K1 KTV lounge.  I ended up “serenading” them while they had their fill of photo-ops and light drinks.  Being responsible adults, 1 hour was enough extension (taking into consideration that it’ll be a Monday the next day).  So I’m sharing this last photo for a final hurrah.

@K1 All the single ladies take two...

Elisa will be returning to Pampanga on the 11th and I’m glad to have these memories to reminisce these happy times.  Even now, Monday night, the weekend that has passed is still fresh from my mind.  What a fun way to enjoy the weekend.  Food tripping, singing, and bonding with long-time friends I rarely see.

How did your weekend pan out? 🙂
