Farewell

Last night I went out with a couple of my officemates.  I met up with them having rested for a while at home after our basketball game.  They were playing billiards by the time I caught up with them.  Then afterwards, we had dinner then went for videoke.

It was an impromptu “despedida” for John.  It was his resignation’s effectivity date and tatay wanted to make it memorable.  After videoke for 4 hours, we ate Durian before saying our farewells.  It’s a bit bitterweet for me seeing these guys together for the last time.  John was one of my best recommended applicant and he was the first one I hired after I was hired in our company.  It pains me to think that he’ll be leaving ahead of me.  And now, I’m swamped with a couple of vacancies still waiting to be filled.

SIGH.  But I can’t do anything more about it if he wishes for greener pastures.   Anyway, he sang one song which I will always remember.  Farewell by Raymond Lauchengco.

FAREWELL
Raymond Lauchengco

We used to be frightened and scared to try
Of things we don’t really understand why
We laugh for a moment and start to cry
We were crazy
Now that the end is already here
We reminisce ’bout old yells and cheers
Even if our last hurrahs were never clear

Farewell to you my friends
We’ll see each other again
Don’t cry ’cause it’s not the end of everything
I may be miles away
But here is where my heart will stay
With you, my friends with you

Yesterday’s a treasure, today is here
Tomorrows’ on its way, the sky is clear
Thank you for the mem’ries of all the laughters and tears
And not to mention our doubts and our fears
The hypertension we gave to our peers
It’s really funny to look back after all of these years

Farewell to you my friends
We’ll see each other again
Don’t cry ’cause it’s not the end of everything
I may be miles away
But here is where my heart will stay
With you, my friends with you

Farewell to you my friends
We’ll see each other again
Don’t cry ’cause it’s not the end of everything
I may be miles away
But here is where my heart will stay
With you, my friends with you
With you, my friends with only you

2 Baskeball Games for Today

Basketball.  Just finished two games with the guys today.  I’m SO beat!  It’s tiring enough to play with girls, but it’s SOOO challenging to play in a team full of guys and have to play against other guys.  You see, I’m the only lady in our office who plays basketball.  I’m not complaining though.  At least I get to shed off a few pounds when I play.  [I’ll share about it some other time.]  Our game this morning was a continuation of our interdepartmental sports league.  We tweaked a few settings such as changing it into 2 halves (10 minute stopwatch) from 4 quarters (10 minute running time 1st half and 10 minute stopwatch 2nd half).

My pinky finger got hit by my teammate and it’s getting a wee bit soar.  I’ll rest it in a bit.  We won our first game but lost the second one.  I’m just happy though that I got to be a key player in both.  I scored 11 points in our first game (3 3 point shots and 1 lay up) and 8 points in our second game (2 3 point shots and 1 lay up).  YEY! Not bad for a girl.  Even my officemates think so.  Haha!

Well, gotta go.  I need to freshen up.  Then off to the billiard hall afterwards.

Born To Be My Baby

I’ve finally found the title of the song which I happened to have come across with while I was browsing over the pre-installed music of my Nokia 5800 phone.  I never expected to know about this song much less liked it until I REALLY listened to the lyrics. So I’m sharing this with you.  Hope you’ll like it.

This Left Feels Right

Born To Be My Baby

Bon Jovi

Rainy night and we worked all day
We both got jobs ’cause there’s bills to pay
We got something they can’t take away
Our love, our lives

Close the door, leave the cold outside
I don’t need nothing when I’m by your side
We got something that’ll never die
Our dreams, our pride

My heart beats like a drum (all night)
Flesh to flesh, one to one (and it’s alright)
And I’ll never let go cause
There’s something I know deep inside

You were born to be my baby
And baby, I was made to be your man

We got something to believe in
Even if we don’t know where we stand
Only God would know the reasons
But I bet he must have had a plan
Cause you were born to be my baby
And baby, I was made to be your man

Light a candle, blow the world away
Table for two on a TV tray
It ain’t fancy, baby that’s OK
Our time, our way

So hold me close better hang on tight
Buckle up, baby, it’s a bumpy ride
We’re two kids hitching down the road of life
Our world, our fight

If we stand side by side (all night)
There’s a chance we’ll get by (and it’s alright)
And I’ll know that you’ll be live
In my heart till the day that I die

Cause you were born to be my baby
And baby, I was made to be your man

We got something to believe in
Even if we don’t know where we stand
Only God would know the reasons
But I bet he must have had a plan
Cause you were born to be my baby
And baby, I was made to be your man

[Solo]

My heart beats like a drum (all night)
Flesh to flesh, one to one (and it’s alright)
And I’ll never let go cause
There’s something I know deep inside

Cause you were born to be my baby
And baby, I was made to be your man

We got something to believe in
Even if we don’t know where we stand
Only God would know the reasons
But I bet he must have had a plan

Cause you were born to be my baby
And baby, I was made to be your man

You were born to be my baby
And baby, I was made to be your man

Livin’ On A Prayer

One of the vintage songs which I never get tired of listening to.

Slippery When Wet

Livin’ On A Prayer

Bon Jovi

Once upon a time
Not so long ago

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union’s been on strike
He’s down on his luck…it’s tough, so tough

Gina works the diner all day
Working for her man, she brings home her pay
For love – for love

She says: We’ve got to hold on to what we’ve got
‘Cause it doesn’t make a difference
If we make it or not
We’ve got each other and that’s a lot
For love – we’ll give it a shot

We’re half way there
Livin’ on a prayer
Take my hand and we’ll make it – I swear
Livin’ on a prayer

Tommy got his six string in hock
Now he’s holding in what he used
To make it talk – so tough, it’s tough

Gina dreams of running away
When she cries in the night
Tommy whispers: Baby it’s okay, someday
We’ve got to hold on to what we’ve got
‘Cause it doesn’t make a difference
If we make it or not
We’ve got each other and that’s a lot
For love – we’ll give it a shot

We’re half way there
Livin’ on a prayer
Take my hand and we’ll make it – I swear
Livin’ on a prayer

We’ve got to hold on ready or not
You live for the fight when it’s all that you’ve got
We’re half way there
Livin’ on a prayer
Take my hand and we’ll make it – I swear
Livin’ on a prayer

Rockband Unplugged

I got a new game in my PSP. It’s called Rockband Unplugged. It’s a relatively simple game wherein you press the appropriate buttons at the right time. For those who’ve played Dance Dance Revolution, Dance Maniax, Xceed, you’d be quite familiar with the gameplay. It’s all about the eye-hand/fingers coordination.

I used to play Guitar Heroes when I still had my PS2, and mainly the main reason why I got a copy of Rockband Unplugged. The difference however was immediately noticeable when I started playing. In Guitar Heroes, you could choose whether you’ll be playing the lead guitar or the bass guitar. But in Rockband Unplugged, the player would be switching from one instrument to another. You had to play the bass guitar, the drums, vocals, and the lead guitar for every song. And if one instrument fails, well you fail. Don’t worry though, a certain instrument plays on it’s own for a period of time so you can switch between instruments.

I started out with EASY first. And so far I’m doing good. I tried MEDIUM – quite tricky but manageable. But I need more practice though. I accidentally selected the EXPERT mode and had to quit the game. Oh, when you opt to quit a song you lose fans in the process though. So better watch out for that.

You get to learn different information about the music in the game as well as the artists. Like, did you know Billy Idol wrote the song White Wedding for his sister? And other music stuff.

At the start of the game, you’ll be asked to create your own band – complete with band name, logo, and customize your band members purchasing items to fit your style. I named my band Temperature Rising ◦. (Yeah I know, so corny. But it was what I could think of that time.)

Anyway, I’ve just begun playing for the past few days and have unlocked only a few locations. But hopefully over the weekend and holiday, I can unlock more songs. It gets very addicting in the long run.

So for all music lovers and frustrated musicians who have PSPs, get this game and I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy it.

Here’s the list of songs in the game that might interest you.

Being Beautiful For Today

WYSIWYG. What you see is what you get. That’s how I would describe my looks. I’m not much into putting on making or donning the latest fashion. But there are times (when I feel a little down and I need perking up), that I unleash my “kikay” side. Most often than not, I get the boost that I need.

It started last Tuesday. I found an old pair of dangling or as what my kumare would say: “Chandelier” earrings and opted to wear it at the office. I was a bit doubtful in flaunting it since I might violate GMP standards. It turned out okay so I kept on wearing it until yesterday. I get a kick out of my nurse whenever she can’t help but compliment my looks (since I wore a bit of light make up then). I even cut my hair to have bangs to accent my round face. An ex-suitor even complimented me. (I guess he’s wondering why he didn’t continue in pursuing me. HA! His loss! He even saw my title just a while ago. Ooopsie!)

This morning, I again found a different old pair of dangling earrings. So I thought, why not? No harm. Lo and behold, a lot of my officemates were complimenting my aura. I was giggling inside and preening on the compliments I got. A lot of heads turned in my direction and I have to say, I enjoyed their reaction. Am I a flirt? Nah! I don’t think so. I just like being underestimated then surprising a lot of people in the end.

My BFF and my nurse reacted the same way. They wanted me to put my hair up to show off my ears. HA! Good thing they couldn’t force me though. But maybe next time. When I’m more confident in being voluptuous.

Someone told me that I should look more like the way I am for the past few days. But for me, I don’t want to look pretty or beautify myself for others’ satisfaction. It’s too much of a job for me. (I’m particularly OC when it comes to these things.) So, will I be doing this again tomorrow? Who knows. Maybe I will. Maybe I won’t. OR I might get to find another old pair of earrings to accent my looks. Whatever decision I might make for tomorrow, it’ll be for myself. I want to keep on feeling good about myself, look at myself in the mirror and really SMILE and be glowing for one person. ME.

My Newfound Old Earrings

Haven’t Met You Yet

Another feel good song that I just recently heard. I’m no Michael Bublé fan but there are a number of songs he has popularized that I enjoy listening in to.  This one’s my most recent favorite.

Haven’t Met You
Michael Bublé

I’m not surprised.
Not everything lasts.
I’ve broken my heart so many times I stopped keeping track.
Talk myself in.
I talk myself out.
I get all worked up, then I let myself down.

I tried so very hard not to lose it.
I came up with a million excuses.
I thought I thought of every possibility.

And I know someday that it’ll all turn out.
You’ll make me work so we can work to work it out.
And promise you, kid, that I’ll give so much more than I get.
I just haven’t met you yet.

Mmmm…

I might have to wait.
I’ll never give up.
I guess it’s half timing,
And the other half’s luck.
Wherever you are.
Whenever it’s right.
You’ll come out of nowhere and into my life.

And I know that we can be so amazing.
And baby your is gonna change me.
And now I can see every possibility.

Mmmm…

But somehow I know that it’ll all turn out.
And you’ll make me work so we can work to work it out.
And I promise you, kid, that I’ll give so much more than I get.
I just haven’t met you yet.

They say all’s fair.
And in love and war.
But I won’t need to fight it.
We’ll get it right and,
We’ll be united.

And I know that we can be so amazing.
And being in your life is gonna change me.
And now I can see every single possibility, mmmm.

And someday I know it’ll all turn out.
And I’ll work to work it out.
Promise you, kid, I’ll give more than I get,
Than I get, than I get, than I get.

Ohhh!

You know it’ll all turn out.
And you’ll make me work so we can work to work it out.
And I promise you, kid, that I’ll give so much more than I get.
I just haven’t met you yet.

I just haven’t met you yet.
Ohh, promise you, kid, to give so much than I get.

(I said love, love, love, love…)
I just haven’t met you yet

I just haven’t met you yet.

Ang Palitaw

Ang Palitaw

Isang uri ng kakanin
masarap kainin.
Ito’y may sangkap na gata,
at panandaliang nilaga.

Sa tubig pinakulo hangga’t lumitaw,
Kaya ito’y binansagang PALITAW.

Sa paghain,
ito’y binubudburan:
malimit asukal, at niyog na kinudkod mula sa bakuran.
Sa paghahanda, ay tiyak na makikita,
ang pagmamahal na tanging Pinoy lamang makakagawa.

Minsa’y nabigyan
kani’t-kanina lang.
Sa aming magkatrabo, pinaghatian
ngunit sa panlasa, sadyang kulang.

Sapagka’t dalawang piraso ay napakaliit
Kulang!
Sigaw ng damdamin ngunit dagdag ay di makakamit.
Sayang!

Dahan-dahang tinikman
ang tamis na nangingibabaw
Ngunit buong nilamon din sa kaduluhan
dahil sa sarap na umaapaw.

Ngayo’y naghahanap ng pwede makain
iniisip ang naubos na kakanin
Sana bukas makalawa may taong mamimigay
palitaw o Pilipinong kakaning magbibgay buhay.

We’re Back In Business!

The exact text my BFF texted me this morning after our phone lines got reconnected. She texted me last night saying the bill has been paid. I’m ever so grateful to her. Hopefully I can pay her up soon.

Thanks BFF! Long Live your giving heart. Best friends like you don’t come along too often. And I’m glad to have you in my life.

You Look Better When I’m Drunk

Another catchy tune which I also heard the other night was this song. Although I can’t say this has ever happened to me (it probably never will) but the lyrics and its tone seem to perk me up from my self-proclaimed depression.

You Look Better When I’m Drunk
White Tie Affair

You look better when I’m drunk
You look better
You look better when I’m drunk
you look better,

It’s the right night to make the wrong moves gotta
bad case and nothing to lose when the
lights out we have an excuse, is this romance
Or is it the juice?

I might be crazy but I think tonight has only begun (gun gun)
Your not my normal type but we can make an exception (on on)

A little less thinkin’ and a lot more drinkin
That’ll work for me tonight (oh, oh)
When the room starts spinnin’ and we start sinnin’,
I begin to realize

You look better when I’m drunk
You look better when I’m drunk
You look better when I’m drunk
You look better when I’m drunk
You look better when I’m drunk
You look better … drunk,
You look better … drunk,
You look better when I’m drunk-drunk-drunk-drunk

It’ a-bout time I learn my lesson but this
lesson is under my skin it’s a
new night a new location so I
wait for the buzz to kick in

I might be crazy but I think tonight is already done (done done)
I’m not your normal type but we can make an exception (on on)

A little less thinkin’ and a lot more drinkin
That’ll work for me tonight (oh, oh)
When the room starts spinnin’ and we start sinnin’,
I begin to realize

Chorus
You look better when I’m drunk,
You look better when I’m drunk,
You look better when I’m drunk,
You look better when I’m drunk,
You look better when I’m drunk,
You look better ….drunk,
You look better … drunk,
You look better when I’m drunk-drunk-drunk-drunk

Hey DJ spin the soundtrack to bad decisions
And these drinks, make me, lose my self control,
Hey DJ spin the soundtrack to bad decisions
And these drinks, make me lose control

(that’s why)

Chorus
