Maxima Aquafun Adventure (A Semi-Detailed Info)

Before the day ends, I’d like to keep my promise in posting a longer info about our outing yesterday.  So denying my body aches and pains of their well-deserved rest, let me begin our adventure.

February 23 Wednesday – Planning Stage

It started with a little show and tell at the office.  Our auditors were showing some of their pictures during their Boracay trip.  Someone commented if I was jealous.  With all honesty, I said “No“.  Why should I be?  Boracay was in Visayas.  And our auditors’ provinces were quite close to it.  Now, if they went to places in my hometown that I’ve never been to (especially at Maxima), that’s a totally different story.  We’ve been planning and planning (but never quite reaching the actuating stage) about going to Maxima.  When the idea was said out loud, the auditors were quite excited.  Next step (especially those who were married), was to get permission.

<Lull period>

February 25 – Friday

Still no final list of those who would be coming along.  What I did?  Sent out an email to anyone who I knew would say YES eventually.  We still had so many things to plan: food, transportation, time, and assignments etc… By lunchtime, I got a tentative list that I could work on.  One of my agency workers was able to get the waterproof camera which I borrowed from my bff’s officemate.  So documentation was not going to be a problem.  We decided to commute instead so transportation was set.  So all was left was food.

Assignment: Buying the food

Say what?! I’m in charge of going to the market??  Not again!  Fine!  After collecting the initial Php 100.00 per person (additional expenses will be collected if there are any), I got to collect Php 1,100.00 for marketing.  Since I was going to my aunt’s place the day before our outing, I enlisted the aid of Igat.  After all the effort[less] buying of food to be cooked/prepared courtesy of my cousin-in-law, we were all set for the next day.

Yey!  So excited!  No sleeping for me!

February 27 Sunday: MAXIMA DAY!!!

Woke up around 3am.  Wha?!  Why do I always wake up early during outings especially when I need to get sleep. T___T  I noticed the slow downpour of rain outside.  “Please let the rain up when it’s time to leave.” was my mantra.

4am – still awake.

5am – no luck, wakey-wakey.

At around 6am.  Got drowsy.  Great, our meeting time was at 8am.  And it’s only that time I became sleepy.  Sheesh!

A few minutes after 7am – got a text from my “classmate”.  “It’s raining hard here in Panabo.  I’ll just catch up.” I answered: “We’re going to the beach.  We’re gonna get wet anyway.  It’s raining here too.  CATCH UP!” My phone sounded off again, message from Ma’am Tin: “It’s raining.  Is it a go?” My response: “Of course!  All the purchased food would go to waste if we won’t be going!”

And so it began.  I had a couple of purchases I needed to finish off before heading to our meeting place.  I had to buy “kakanin” or finger foods while we grill our food when we get to the site.  Set meeting time? 8am.  Arrival of our companions? 9:30 am.  Okay.  I’ll credit their tardiness due to heavy rainfall and long distances of bus arrivals.

Getting There

There are many ways in getting to Maxima Aqua Fun.

1. Ride a bus at the Sasa Ferry Boat wharf. – Php 30.00 (You get off at the Penaplata Market)

After the bus ride, you can opt to rent a multicab (favorable if you’re group is big), or you can ride a motorbike or habal-habal.

If you have your own ride, you can skip the bus ride and multicab/motorbike. Just board the ferry boat. I think it’s rate is at Php 270.00 (including driver and 1 passenger) + Php 10.00/additional person. Just ask for directions in getting there and prepare for a bumpy ride.

2. Speedboat (please see post on rates below)

After a long and bumpy ride, we arrived at Maxima a few minutes before 11am.  The view was breathtaking!  It was overlooking the ocean!  If not for the steady rainfall, I bet we all would have rushed to the sea.  But first things first.  Lunch.

To cut the long story short, we all pitched in in preparing our food.  We had grilled 1 kilo of Tuna panga (jawbone), pork chops, pork liempo, kinilaw, chicharon, and other finger foods to nibble on.  (Now I’m getting hungry all over again).

“Team Building” in prepping our food

After getting our fill for our churning tummies, we waited out a bit on sliding (since the guide was on his lunch break).  When there was nothing holding us back, we got ourselves our own life vests (a safety rule was to always wear your life vest) to keep you buoyed after sliding the 4om tarpaulin slide which would drop you in the 150m deep ocean.  So off we went to get our thrill on the longest slide in the Philippines!

Again I’m going to share pictures of Maxima.

Good thing it was raining.  Or else I would’ve been nursing a pretty ugly sunburn.

Maxima Aquafun Adventure (Photos)

Darn it.  I missed out on a week of posting.  I’ve been meaning to post something last week but ended up failing.

Anyway, I just arrived home (it’s around 7pm here) from an outing with some of my officemates and their families.  I initially planned it, then ended up planning EVERYTHING from the time and date, menu, and even buying at the market all the needed food for the outing.  So tiring!  But, it was all worth it.  And since I got to borrow a waterproof camera (Thanks Rai!  Thanks Ris!), I got to have a couple of shots in the water.

The group I went out with has been planning for quite sometime now to bond and go out, particularly at MAXIMA AQUAFUN – the home of the Abyss.

I’m really, really tired right now so I’ll just show you a couple of pictures I got from this afternoon.

Anyway, that’s all for now.  I’m SO sleepy.  Post a longer one tomorrow.

A Winnie The Pooh Flashback

Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends debuted on NBC...

So I was just browsing my page when I caught the post title of blog buddy Eliz.  I checked it out and I was transported to my high school days, spending time with my friends sharing laughter and good vibes.  So please check out her blog here.

To show my gratitude, I’m sharing the lyrics of one particular song that ran through my mind while reading her post.   I got the lyrics from this site.

(Too bad though I couldn’t upload the music).

Return to Pooh Corner
Kenny Loggins and Amy Grant

Christopher Robin and I walked along
Under branches lit up by the moon
Posing our questions to Owl and Eeyore
As our days disappeared all too soon

But I’ve wandered much further today than I should
And I can’t seem to find my way back to the wood

So help me if you can, I’ve got to get back
To the House at Pooh Corner by one
You’d be surprised, there’s so much to be done

Count all the bees in the hive
Chase all the clouds from the sky
Back to the days of Christopher Robin and Pooh

Winnie the Pooh doesn’t know what to do
Got a honey jar stuck on his nose
He came to me asking help and advice
From here no one knows where he goes

So I sent him to ask of the Owl if he’s there
How to loosen a jar from the nose of a bear

Help me if you can, I’ve got to get back
To the House at Pooh Corner by one
You’d be surprised, there’s so much to be done

Count all the bees in the hive
Chase all the clouds from the sky
Back to the days of Christopher Robin and Pooh

It’s hard to explain how a few precious things
Seem to follow throughout all our lives
After all’s said and done I was watching my son
Sleeping there with my bear by his side

So I tucked him in, I kissed him and as I was going
I swear that the old bear whispered, “Boy, welcome home”

Believe me if you can, I’ve finally come back
To the House at Pooh Corner by one
What do you know, there’s so much to be done

Count all the bees in the hive
Chase all the clouds from the sky
Back to the days of Christopher Robin
Back to the ways of Christopher Robin
Back to the days of Pooh

Hope you enjoyed it!

Wedding Bells…

The Wedding Bells

I can hear the bells

Well, not exactly for me.  But looking at the time, I’m guessing the wedding march has already started.  It’s a good day to get married too!  If you like the cold weather, that is.  Father Sun hasn’t presented himself for 2 days now and the clouds are having a field day.  Thankfully though, rain has not dampened the atmosphere… yet.  So if you’re into cold weather, you’d probably agree with me.

Today is the 18th of February – the love month.  Some people believe it’s a “romantic” season to get married since it’s Valentine’s month.  I just wondered though why have a wedding on a Friday?  (It’s a work day!)  But another set of belief by some older people at work, it’s because of the date – 18.  Or any date with “8” as its ending.  Stands for long-lasting.  Infinite.

How sweet!  But I beg to differ though.  LOL.

I hope I don’t get judged as being bitter.  I was just thinking of possible ways to start this blog and share a piece of my day.  One of my Engineering Department friends is getting married today.  He was a former suitor of mine.  A secret suitor not known by all (except for some close friends and those good with guessing).  His courtship with me never got anywhere when it began.  I mean, if he were really serious, he would have pursued me even if I don’t text or call him first.  Another thing that bothered me, he kept his courtship a secret so that other people wouldn’t know.  So no pain on my end.  I’m not sure about him.  (Ha!  Feeling “Rapunzel” much? LOL).

Seriously, I’m happy for him in starting his own family.  At least his goal in life has already taken its toll.  Just a bit unexpected to begin with before he was fully ready.

Now the admin building is quite sad about the news.  No more teasing and matchmaking me with him, always expressing how disheartening it is that there’s no more chance with him.

I don’t mind.  When he courted me, there were so many doubts, discomfort and questions filling my mind.  Now, there’s none.  It wasn’t meant to be.  And I’m fine with that.

Someday my dark knight will come.  One whom I can be ME with.  And when he does come – and everything else in my life is in order – I hope to hear the wedding bells singing in perfect harmony to the beat of my heart.

Best wishes to the newlyweds!

Third Year Anniversary

Has it been that long already?

I wasn’t expecting I’d get to this point, especially with the things, issues, and conflicts that have gone by for the past few months.

Okay, before you get the wrong idea, I’m talking about my 3rd year of employment in the company I’m currently working.  I just realized it this morning when I was conducting an orientation to one of our new hires.  Frankly, I’m amazed how fast years have gone by and yet, amidst all the experiences I’ve gained in work, I still feel like it hasn’t amounted to anything remarkable.  Maybe (lately)  it’s because of what’s happened earlier today with my FB (female boss).  She goes out of her way humiliating an employee (me) in every possible way.  I already admitted my error, I already made necessary steps to resolve the “problem” or the “cause of confusion”, and she goes on in slapping it on your virtual face and cackling on and on to other managers.

Sheesh!  Thanks for the gift, Ma’am!  I wonder what I’d give her on her 3rd year anniversary of employment on the 18th.

Why I ought to… I ought to… well… nothing.  I’m not that type.

One unexpected thing today though; the company which I sent my application has reviewed it and has scheduled another interview this coming Saturday.  Wish me luck!

Hope your day was brighter!

I’m single.

I’m fine with it.  No pressure, no big deal.

So it’s Happy Hearts Day once again and I found myself reminiscing Valentines day during my first year in college.  It was especially memorable since one of our guy classmates then (we only had 3 guys in class and the rest were girls), surprised all the girls with one rose for that day.  Though other girls all over campus had their own bouquet of flowers, all of us in section S3 was holding a piece of our valentine surprise.  We traipsed from one hall to another – transferring classrooms for each class – earning looks from other sections and hearing side remarks like “Oh… how sweet!” or “We want one too!”

Well… too bad they didn’t have Tim for a classmate.  Tough luck! LOL!

The succeeding years of Valentines were barely memorable.  School days passed and Tim shifted to another course.  I had a relationship with my then boyfriend.  But I rarely remember if he gave me flowers during our school years’ Valentines Day.  Perhaps he did in one year but nothing more in normal days (which I would have preferred).  The time when I was in Manila, I think he gave me a few flowers during Valentines day.  But I guess not memorable as I would have thought before.

Snapping back to present time.  I wanted to make this day memorable not only for me but for others as well.  So I asked for help from one of our contractual workers at the plant.  Flowers were expensive during this time, and with the limited budget (and time) I had, I was quite reluctant I’ll get to buy flowers.

I was right!  Talk about highway robbery!  A dozen roses (without the trimmings and decorations), was worth Php 400.00.  And I only sent Php 150.00.  Waaahhh… Good thing though Rey (the contractual worker) was quite adept in haggling.  I didn’t know how exactly he pulled it off, but he was able to get me a dozen long-stemmed red roses.  Yey for Rey!

When the bunch of roses arrived, my “Mamas” in the office thought it was for me.  Little did they know they were in for a surprise.  The female population in the office was 12 regular employees and 1 contractual employee.  As a surprise, I gave each female colleague one Valentine rose.  And since one officemate was absent, I had one spare rose (thankfully!) which I gave as a surprise for my mom.

It’s here!!

I just LOOOVEE ♥♥♥ their reactions!!!  A mixture of surprise, delight, appreciation, and sheer happiness.  One was single, another was a single by choice, and the rest were quite certain their husbands wouldn’t be giving them flowers for this day.  So, I guess it’s safe to say that my simple gesture made their day.

At home.

Mom and I were supposed to have a dinner date for tonight.  But since I was already outside, I told her I’ll bring food instead.  Just a couple of Shawarma Rice with egg, heart shaped donuts, and her single rose was the right touch to end the day.  Mom had a gift for me too.

A Surprise Dinner!
Hearty sweets 3 times

I even got a surprise this afternoon.  Ex BF greeted me.  LOL.

Hope your day was full of love!!! (And everyday be full of love too!  ♥♥♥

To My Blog Readers: Flowers for you (and you, and you, and you…)!!!

Band Album Cover

I grew up well-exposed to music from a bystander’s perspective.  My dad was a great musician who’s glory days were during his teenage and early adult life.  I doubt if he ever got an actual album with his group but he rubbed elbows with a few young artists in the Philippines like Freestyle and one member of South Border.

I remember times when he would prod me in forming my own band.  Who knows, with my “talent” I’d be catapulted to music stardom.  Wishful thinking!  Hahaha!  And I was too complacent to get serious with my music studies, and self-teaching.  One thing I can take pride in is my ability to carry a decent tune. 🙂  But more than less, I have a great affinity with music.

I was reading an article from one of my favorite blogs (You can check his blog here).  It shares a fun way in creating your own Band Album cover.  So if you’ve ever played with the thought of  how your band’s album would be, here’s one way to go about it:

1. Go to and click on “Random Article”. The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
2. Go to and click on “Random Quotes”. The last few words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
3. Go to and click on “Interesting photos from the last seven days”. The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover. And in case you decide to post the final product, even if we’re just doing this for fun, don’t forget to acknowledge whoever owns the original image!
4. Use Photoshop (or any photo editor program you’re comfortable using)to put it all together.
5. And presto!  You’ve just created your band’s CD album cover!

Here’s what I got:

My Band Name: Diesel Particulate Filter or DPF (Sweet!  It’s got its own short name already!)  Check out it’s definition via wikipedia.

Album Name: Unforgivable Quality to the Unsure (A part of the quote from Bette Davis in the Lonely Life.

Album Picture was from Valerie Roi.  Check out the full picture here.

What’s your band name and album cover? 🙂

Pre-Valentine Subconscious Shoutout

Tree decorated for Valentine's Day in San Dieg...

Image via Wikipedia

I woke up smiling from a dream this morning.  But I would have wished it played out longer.  Such a dramatic dream though.  My ex boyfriend was there, the guy who previously courted me, and an unexpected third guy in the background.

Let’s just say I received the most sweetest (and longed-for) hug from the third guy.  Thinking about it, gives me good vibes and a crazy smile on my face.

So sappy of me to share this.  Maybe it’s pre-Valentines day bugs and being single. LOL.

Back To Wearing Glasses

I’m one of the unlucky few who lost their 20-20 “perfect” vision at a young age.  In my case, my vision got blurry when I was in 6th grade and that was the time I started wearing glasses.

I’m nearsighted.  So if I don’t wear glasses, I won’t be able to see things from afar.  I started with correctional glasses, then gradually increased in lens grade.  At first, it was fun wearing glasses.  I looked smart, mature, and was a noticeable change in my appearance.  Unfortunately, it was also an easy target for endless teasing and getting laughed at.  I also sweat a lot.  I ended up fogging up my glasses during really hot days and was quite a nuisance in wiping out my sweat.

It’s quite bothersome actually (especially the part wherein I get my eyes checked and find out that I need to change my glasses again), but life went on.  Though I couldn’t use my glasses during basketball games, I still get to play well during college.

That has been my eye practice since less than 6 years ago when I decided to try wearing contact lens.  At first, it was a difficult feat.  Eyes aren’t exactly comfortable when you try to intentionally “poke” yourself.  It got better over the years.  I could easily put on my contacts without the aid of mirrors.  The compliments I got from people on my change of appearance was flattering as well.  I looked younger, and vibrant.

So why the sudden discussion about wearing glasses?

Due to the sudden onslaught of co-employees with sore eyes at work, and being the frontliner in confirming fitness to work of employees, I ended up catching the virus.  My left eye was already bothering me last Friday when I attended the Job Fair.  But I still had work to do.

I had my eyes checked last Monday and the doctor said I had conjuctivitis.  It wasn’t contagious but he could have wrote off a diagnosis to advise me to rest for a week.  Though I wanted to take the whole week off, I opted to go to work.  So noble of me.  Not!  Rather, there were just too many things to do that week.

So I’m back to wearing my glasses (for this week only).  I’m missing wearing my shades when I go out in the morning.  But the compliments I get from the guys about my looks are a great consolation. 🙂

My Blog: A Ghost Town

Imagine tumbleweeds rolling over dust-covered terrain in a barren and deserted town…

Have you pictured it out?

That is how my blog would look like if it were a place to be visited.  Full of promise, but lacking activity.

I feel bad actually.  I failed to follow through on my commitment to Post A Week.  Grr!!! I was preparing one last Friday but I got too busy since I was on official business at my alma mater, attending the Job Fair.  With the influx of applicants, I wasn’t able to finish what I was writing.  Add to that, I haven’t gone online for the past few days (even through my office account!), nor load up on my prepaid broadband.

What’s done is done.  Moving onwards, I have a couple of topics randomly running through my head for the past week.  Just haven’t decided on one to start the ball rolling.  Could you help me choose?  What would you like to know about? Work? Family? Coping with Death in the Family?  My Business Plan?  Thoughts about… (fill in the ellipses)?  etc., etc…

Meanwhile, I have to get back to work.  We have visitors!  And I need to tend to a number of things.

So just shouting out that I’m still very much alive!

Have a great midweek everyone!
